LT J.C. Sbraccia

Officer on Leave of Absence

Sea Cadet Experience:  LT Sbraccia has been part of the Sea Cadet program since 2009.  He began as an Instructor and the Supply Officer for the HR Doud Division in Saginaw before transferring to the Tomcat Squadron in 2010 where he took on the role of Medical Officer.  He received his promotion to Warrant Officer shortly after his transfer.  He would develop the first League Cadet field medical training and would lead the training for the Sea Cadets.  LT Sbraccia has also been a Division Officer for Recruit Training at Great Lakes Illinois for several years and has led the Honor Division in 2017.  He was named as the Executive Officer for the Tomcat Squadron in 2016.  He was promoted to LT in 2017 and was named as the unit’s new Commanding Officer before taking a leave of absence in 2021.  He has three children in the program and one who has graduated and is currently serving in the Navy.

Military Experience: LT Sbraccia is currently in the Navy Reserve where he serves as a Hospital Corpsman Chief Petty Officer (E7) (Expeditionary Warfare Specialist) with Commander Naval Forces Europe and Africa/Commander 6th Fleet as the Senior Medical Department Representative.  He has been in the Navy for 16 years.  He has been deployed to Landstuhl, Germany and Kuwait and Afghanistan.

​Civilian Experience: LT Sbraccia has been a Critical Care Paramedic for over 23 years.  He is currently working as the Supervising Surgical Residency Program Coordinator and Surgical Critical Care/Trauma Fellowship Coordinator for Sparrow Hospital and Michigan State University, where he has been since July 2017.
