WE ARE THE TOMCAT SQUADRON

The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a federally chartered non-profit civilian youth organization for young people, ages 10 through 18. We are comprised of a senior and a junior cadet program. We are sponsored by the Navy League of the United States and supported by both the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
The Tomcat Squadron is a South East Michigan Sea Cadet unit drilling out of Selfridge Air National Guard Base since 1973.

When cadets join the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, they embark upon a path of lifelong leadership. The Corps will teach them how to successfully lead groups of their peers and will also inspire them to become leaders in their schools and communities.
Every year our Michigan based cadets participate in training opportunities such as SCUBA, medical training, photojournalism, police science and sailing.
Cadets even have the opportunity to travel abroad and meet Sea Cadets from around the world through our International Exchange Program.

The benefits to the children in this program are numerous. Not only do they learn how to be leaders but they learn how to be a valuable part of a team. This is something these young adults looking for their first job can put on a resume or application. Someone who understands and respects a chain of command and knows how to work well in a team environment is someone employers want to hire.
